Windows 10 disable cortana group policy free

I made use of the free upgrade to Windows 10 today and was eager to use Cortana. However, initially I was told in the search bar that I was not able to use her because of the area I lived in I'm in the UK. I managed to fix this by installing an English Language Pack via the settings. Now it comes up stating that "Cortana is Disabled by Company Policy".

This is a home PC and not attached to any company, nor does my profile mention any company. In the same area, below the lock screen options, it also says "Online search isn't supported in the region and language that you have selected.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. There should be a download option for GB speech. Change it to UK default US. Cortana should now work but the settings still displays some odd text. I imagine this will be fixed soon! I had downloaded the GB, I forgot the Speech though :p Anyway, downloading it right now, let's see if it works. Get the "disabled by company policy" and "Online search isn't supported in your region and language you selected".

For me, I had to restart the settings app to get it to appear. Now I'm back to "Cortana isn't supported in the region and language you've selected". Jeek - I'm having exactly the same thing - swapping between 'disabled by company policy' to 'isn't supported in the region I don't know if its related, but when I use the start menu search and type a name of a program or file I still get "We are getting search ready" at the top of the search panel.

I've been upgraded to Windows 10 since Wednesday nearly 48 hours now and the computer has been on for at least 16 of those hours - plenty of time for it to have indexed what it needs to.
